Honoring our HCA Healthcare Veterans

On this Veterans Day, HCA Healthcare would like to extend our gratitude to the U.S. military veterans who have honorably served our great country.  In particular, we would like to honor all of our colleagues who are military veterans, along with their spouses and families.

As we honor our veterans, let’s always remember their service and sacrifice.  No matter when someone served or in what capacity, it’s never too late to thank them.  A simple, but heartfelt, “thank you for your service” will honor those who selflessly served our country and protected our freedoms.

I am proud to share the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation last night named HCA Healthcare as the national recipient of the 5th Annual Hiring Our Heroes Lee Anderson Veteran and Military Spouse Employment Award.  HCA Healthcare was nominated because of our demonstrated efforts to connect veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses with meaningful employment opportunities.

Eric Eversole, U.S. Chamber Vice President and President of Hiring our Heroes shared:  “HCA Healthcare has been a true leader in the movement to hire and support our nation’s veterans and military spouses.  HCA Healthcare understands the value in hiring the men and women who have served our country and has dedicated extraordinary efforts toward improving the lives of America’s veterans and military.”

At HCA Healthcare, we invest in hiring our service members, employing over 2,000 military veterans and over 700 military spouses this year alone. We were recently recognized by G.I. Jobs Magazine as a 2016 Military Friendly Employer® for the fourth consecutive year and a Military Friendly Spouse Employer® for the third year in a row – proud designations for our company.

As one of the nation’s leading healthcare systems, we hire veterans who have healthcare backgrounds, but also look for qualified professionals in accounting, dietary/food services, information technology, communications, administration and many other areas beyond clinical roles.  Our recruitment team works with various organizations that assist veterans entering the job market and help translate their military experience into the business world.

We have seen the positive effect and exceptional work ethic these men and women bring to our organization.  Veterans have the ability to lead and to follow procedures thoughtfully and thoroughly; they are self-disciplined, honorable and truthful and are extraordinary team members. Our military veteran colleagues’ desire to serve our country transitions effortlessly to serving the needs of our patients.

Hiring military veterans and military spouses is the right thing to do to honor those who have served, and it is the right thing to do for our business. Our commitment to the recruitment, hiring and retention of military veterans and military spouses continues to grow. We salute those veterans who have relaunched their careers with HCA Healthcare, along with all of those who have served this great country.

At HCA Healthcare, we are known for our culture of caring – caring for our patients, for our community and for one another. HCA Healthcare cares about our military veterans and active service members, too. On behalf of all military veterans and active service members, HCA Healthcare will donate $10,000 to the Nashville-based Operation Stand Down – the only Veteran Service Center in Tennessee recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – and a $50,000 national gift to REBOOT Combat Recovery to help launch a national online resource hub for veterans battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) across the United States.

Thank you for your service.

UPDATE: REBOOT Combat Recovery sent a special message about our recent partnership. Take a look.
