‘Tis the Season! Top Five Reasons to Give on #GivingTuesday

The words GIVE and ONLY WAY are written on a road

HCA Healthcare has a rich history of caring for our community and for each other, and of that, we should be proud. At the corporate offices, we’ve set a goal of 85 percent participation in both volunteering and giving. Now that Black Friday is over and Cyber Monday is underway, let’s make a difference and get involved in Giving Tuesday – the global day dedicated to giving back.

As we enter into this holiday season and one of the busiest times of the year, I’m reminded to pause, be grateful and look at what HCA Healthcare has accomplished in corporate giving and volunteering this year.  So far, 74 percent of our corporate colleagues have given financially and 68 percent have volunteered their time to serve organizations in Middle Tennessee.  We know of many great stories of giving back from our HCA Healthcare-affiliated facilities around the country including this one from Brandon Regional Hospital in Florida celebrating giving to our own HCA Healthcare Hope Fund.

Let’s keep the spirit of giving going into the New Year – ‘tis the season after all. On this Tuesday, December 1, individuals, communities and organizations from around the world will come together to celebrate and encourage giving.  We are joining the generosity movement and hope you will, too, in one way or another.

Take a look at our top five reasons to give on Giving Tuesday:

  • Culture of Caring. HCA Healthcare employees can demonstrate our commitment to the community and double our impact with matching gifts by giving through HCA Healthcare’s online giving system. You don’t have to be an HCA Healthcare employee to give. Everyone can learn about nonprofit organizations and give to nonprofits across the nation with GuideStar.
  • Global Giving. You’ll become a part of a larger worldwide movement to promote generosity.
  • Pay it Forward. It strengthens your community, relationships and organization when your charitable.
  • It just feels good. Exhibit A.
  • It’s Good for Your Health. There’s scientific proof.

I’m so grateful to everyone who has given so generously of their resources and time in 2015. On this Giving Tuesday, please consider giving, where giving is needed most.
