Technology surrounds us everywhere in our daily lives. So why not use it to bring peace of mind to families during a difficult time? That’s exactly what we’re doing for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Medical Center of Trinity, part of HCA Healthcare’s West Florida Division.

After opening just shy of one year ago, our NICU, the first in Florida’s Pasco County, last week unveiled a video-streaming technology – NicView – that allows parents, family and friends to view their young loved one in real time, 24/7, through a secure online portal. All that’s required is an internet connection via a laptop, smartphone or tablet.

Having a baby in the NICU can be stressful and emotionally draining. This technology is sometimes the only way our new parents can bond with their newborn, and we are proud to be the first hospital in Tampa Bay and only the third in Florida that can make that connection through NicView. Approximately 15 families have benefited from our hospital’s new high-tech system already.

Watch our local news coverage below to learn how we are doing everything we can to make the experience more comfortable and convenient for little ones and their families.

September is Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Awareness Month. Medical Center of Trinity offers advanced levels of care for babies born as early as 32 weeks, as well as high-risk pregnancies. As the first NICU in Pasco County, it also serves patients from Hernando, northern Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.
