Every day across HCA Healthcare, millions of moments of care add up to something bigger. Our 2026 Impact Report takes a closer look at these moments — highlighting how our colleagues, clinicians and communities came together in 2025 to advance our mission to care for and improve human life.
“This past year, we had approximately 47 million patient encounters through our growing networks of 190 hospitals and 2,500 outpatient facilities. To support these networks, we increased capital investments and created greater access, expanded capacity, and advanced clinical technology offerings.”
Sam Hazen, CEO of HCA Healthcare, in his CEO letter in the 2026 Annual Impact Report
The HCA Healthcare 2026 Impact Report underscores continued progress in clinical quality, along with meaningful investments in workforce development, innovation and community impact. These efforts are made possible by our approximately 320,000 colleagues, whose dedication and commitment to patient-centered care strengthen the communities we serve every day.
Below, learn more about the impact we made together in 2025.
Putting patients first
Each year, HCA Healthcare supports millions of patient encounters, each one an opportunity to deliver safe, high-quality care. That scale allows our clinicians to learn from one another, share insights across our network and continuously improve how care is delivered for our patients.
HCA Healthcare leverages its integrated network of care across 19 states and the United Kingdom to support consistent, reliable outcomes. In 2026, 44 HCA Healthcare hospitals were named among Healthgrades’ 250 Best Hospitals lists, placing them among the top 5% nationwide for clinical excellence. For our patients, that recognition reflects a culture in which patient safety is embedded in everyday care delivery and reinforces a continuous focus on improving patient outcomes.
Clinical excellence is reflected in key areas of care delivery, including achieving a 33-minute median door-to-needle time, 45% faster than the national benchmark, for stroke patients. Every minute matters during a stroke, and faster treatment helps restore blood flow to the brain more quickly, helping to improve outcomes and giving patients a better chance at recovery.
Research also plays an important role in advancing innovation and improving patient outcomes as a part of our work as a learning health system. In 2025, the HCA Healthcare Research Institute supported 523 active studies, helping bring new therapies to patients and strengthen evidence-based care.
In 2025, we continued to invest in clinical technology, including the adoption of AI-enabled tools designed to reduce the administrative burden for clinicians. These efforts are guided by our Responsible AI Program and supported by a modern electronic health record system that helps to improve care coordination and standardize workflows.
Did you know? In 2025, HCA Healthcare also provided charity care, uninsured discounts and other uncompensated care at an estimated cost of approximately $4.5 billion.
Investing in our colleagues
Supporting our colleagues — and building the next generation of healthcare professionals — is central to HCA Healthcare’s mission. In 2025, we invested directly in our colleagues’ futures, providing more than $40 million in tuition assistance and more than $10 million in student loan assistance programs.
Since joining HCA Healthcare, Galen College of Nursing has grown to 25 campuses nationwide, helping to expand access to nursing education and address workforce needs. In 2025, HCA Healthcare grew our Workforce Development Center of Excellence offerings to 28 programs, helping build critical skills and create pathways into healthcare careers.

HCA Healthcare’s nurse strategy, Nurse Forward, is designed to champion the perspectives of the more than 100,000 nurses across our network by fostering a supportive environment and leveraging their insights to strengthen patient care. The strategy is informed by direct feedback from nurses across our organization.
HCA Healthcare also partners with more than 44,000 active and affiliated physicians and supports graduate medical education programs to help train the next generation of physicians and advance high-quality, clinically led care.

Caring for our communities
Caring for communities extends beyond our facilities. It’s reflected in how we show up — volunteering, giving and building partnerships that address the needs of the communities we serve.
In 2025, HCA Healthcare maintained a strong commitment to community impact through partnerships with national organizations such as the American Heart Association and March of Dimes. In total, HCA Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation contributed more than $61 million to community organizations in 2025, while colleagues gave their time and resources to support local needs. Last year, HCA Healthcare colleagues logged 354,000 volunteer hours and contributed more than $19.5 million to nonprofits matching support from HCA Healthcare.

Our organization also invested in equipping high school and college students for long-term success. Partnerships with organizations such as Educate Texas, Consortium of Florida Education Foundations and higher education institutions provided resources, mentorship and training opportunities that help open doors for future careers in healthcare.
These efforts represent just part of the work happening across HCA Healthcare every day. The full 2026 Impact Report shares more stories and insights into our organization’s overall impact.
