Flash Mob Nurses Surprise Pediatric Patient with Make-A-Wish Disney Cruise

HCA Healthcare nurses rock – literally! Our compassionate caregivers kicked off National Nurses Week on Monday with a flash mob performance for a pediatric heart patient’s Make-A-Wish ® reveal at HCA Healthcare-affiliate Medical City Children’s Hospital in Texas.
The Dallas-based children’s hospital partnered with Make-A-Wish North Texas to surprise 13-year old Ashley, diagnosed with a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart, with her dream vacation – a Disney Cruise. She and her family, including three siblings, will set sail for Nassau, Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, in June.
Forty nurses, physicians and support staff at Medical City Children’s Hospital, some of whom have known Ashley since birth, helped reveal the surprise with a pop up dance routine to music fitting for a teen – Ariana Grande’s “Break Free” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off.” The nurses turned entertainers had approximately 30 minutes to learn the choreographed dance number before the big reveal.

In the last three years, Medical City Children’s Hospital has referred 177 wishes to Make-a-Wish for their pediatric patients. Make-A-Wish North Texas grants every patient wish referred to the nonprofit by Medical City Children’s Hospital. Visit here for more information on Make-A-Wish North Texas.
