Unit of Distinction: Celebrating Excellence in Nursing

They say “there’s no ‘I’ in team,” and for HCA Healthcare nursing, caring for patients and their families is certainly a dedicated team accomplishment. That’s why we were proud to recognize 21 medical-surgical units with the 2016 Unit of Distinction Awards, celebrating excellence in nursing in leadership, professional practice and operations and outcomes.

As the chief nursing executive at HCA Healthcare, I’m pleased to honor our high-performing team of nurses in med-surge, the largest nursing specialty in the country, who champion the highest quality of care for everyone who enters our facilities. The 21 Unit of Distinction Award winners represent the top five percent of medical-surgical units across the organization, and each will receive a $25,000 grant for nursing education and professional development.

We’re proud to support our nurse’s professional commitment and compassionate care with a recognition program highlighting their skills, positive patient outcomes, and, most importantly, teamwork.
