March 30 is National Doctors’ Day, and as we approach the 50th anniversary of HCA Healthcare, it is most appropriate that we pay particular attention to this day of recognition by honoring the two physicians who conceived our company, Drs. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., and Thomas F. Frist, Jr.

Since our founding right here in Nashville, we have grown from two doctors to a community of 38,000 active physicians at 1,200 care sites in 20 states and the United Kingdom. We are also aligned with physician practices across the country, and you’ll learn more about those, and their Chief Medical Officer, Chris Ott, here.

To every HCA Healthcare-affiliated physician, we would like to say “thank you.” Thank you for leading the care of patients we are privileged to serve, thank you for living our Mission, which is “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life,” and thank you for being partners in this extraordinary organization we call HCA Healthcare.

Happy Doctors’ Day.

National Doctors’ Day is held every year on March 30th in the United States. The first observance was in 1933 and in 1990, President George Bush signed the public law which made “National Doctor’s Day” an official observance.

HCA Healthcare 50th Anniversary
In 1968, HCA Healthcare was conceived by two physicians and an accomplished business leader — Dr. Thomas Frist Sr., Dr. Thomas Frist Jr., and Jack Massey. This year, HCA Healthcare celebrates its golden anniversary and the culture of caring established by our three founders 50 years ago. To help us celebrate our 50th year, we’ll share stories here that reflect HCA Healthcare’s mission – above all else, the care and improvement of human life – and our pledge to improve life and make history for the next 50 years and beyond.
