Four HCA Healthcare hospitals were named Top Teaching Hospitals of the Year by the Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit watchdog organization. HCA Healthcare-affiliates MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Florida, Corpus Christi Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, and St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas, all were recognized for patient safety, quality and use of resources.

Dr. Bruce Deighton, HCA Healthcare’s vice president of graduate medical education, said, “It is a great honor to receive this recognition from The Leapfrog Group. I want to specifically highlight the hospital quality and nursing teams, Chief Medical Officers, program directors, faculty, and hospital leaders who all work so tirelessly to create an exceptional clinical care environment and prepare tomorrow’s physicians to deliver modern, high-quality patient care.”

There are 1,100 teaching hospitals in the United States. HCA Healthcare’s MountainView Hospital, Osceola Regional Medical, Corpus Christi Medical, and St. David’s North Austin Medical are four of 53 hospitals to earn the top teaching designation.

“Leapfrog is proud to recognize the recipients of our most elite award for safety and quality,” Leah Binder, president and chief executive officer of The Leapfrog Group, said. “We’re encouraged by the hard work of [the] top hospitals, as well as all of the hospitals that compete for this award. Their transparency and determination deliver the best possible care in their communities.”

Leapfrog awarded the 2018 Top Hospital awards to 118 hospitals in four categories: top children’s hospitals; top general hospitals; top teaching hospitals and top rural hospitals. Click here to see the complete list.
