Recipients revealed: HCA Healthcare’s Unit of Distinction Ceremony

Group of hospital caregivers

Across HCA Healthcare, nurses represent our largest colleague group, with 94,000 men and women inspiring hope and delivering compassionate patient care every single day. For the fourth consecutive year, in a ceremony that was broadcast live across HCA Healthcare, we honored and celebrated 65 nursing units with the fourth annual HCA Healthcare Unit of Distinction recognition.

The Unit of Distinction program was established to drive excellence in nursing care and to recognize the nursing departments of HCA Healthcare that display exemplary performance.

Congratulations to our fellow nursing colleagues across HCA Healthcare who continuously strive to deliver the highest caliber of care to patients and their families!

“Our nurses provide care that delivers patients a healthier tomorrow,” said Sammie Mosier, HCA Healthcare’s assistant chief nurse executive. “The Unit of Distinction program demonstrates how our HCA Healthcare nursing community works together towards common goals and strategies to deliver the excellent care patients deserve across all service lines.”

“We are proud to celebrate our nursing colleagues and recognize those who demonstrate the highest levels of nursing performance across our organization,” adds Mosier.

Recognizing invaluable contribution to patient care

This year, we are honored to recognize four categories of nursing practice including:

  1. Medical-surgical nursing
  2. Critical care nursing, both intensive care and progressive care
  3. Surgical services
  4. Emergency services

“The Unit of Distinction Award recognizes and celebrates excellence in nursing and acknowledges that it takes a high-performing team of nurses demonstrating a high level of commitment to achieve results like these,” said Jane D. Englebright, PhD, senior vice president and chief nurse executive at HCA Healthcare.

Achieving excellence in nursing practice requires dedication and commitment to patient outcomes and satisfaction, successful operations, efficiencies, best practices and competencies and capabilities for the provision of care delivered.
