“We are pleased not only that our hospitals represent ten of the top 100, but that the underlying measures evaluated hold meaning for patients: safer, more effective, more efficient and compassionate care,” said Jonathan Perlin, MD, PhD, president of clinical services and chief medical officer at HCA Healthcare.

This marks the 10th consecutive year affiliate St. David’s Medical Center, including the St. David’s Georgetown Hospital and Heart Hospital of Austin campuses, has earned the honor – the most consecutive Top 100 awards of any HCA Healthcare hospital.

“Being named among the 100 Top Hospitals for the past decade is a reflection of our longstanding commitment to providing exceptional care to every patient every day,” David Huffstutler, president and chief executive officer of St. David’s HealthCare, said. “This honor also underscores our dedication to becoming the finest care and service organization in the world. I applaud the hard work of the staff, nurses, physicians, volunteers and administrators who made this recognition possible.”

Both Rose Medical Center and Lakeview Hospital make its seventh straight appearance (12th and 9th, respectively, all-time) on the Top 100, while West Valley Medical Center receives the nod six years in a row.

The Everest Award, which honors hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement during a five-year period, was awarded to St. Mark’s Hospital and Rose Medical Center. Additionally, Lone Peak Hospital, one of six HCA Healthcare MountainStar Health hospitals on this year’s Top 100 list, made an appearance for the first time ever.

“This is a great honor for our top-performing hospitals and their hospital leaders, clinicians, nursing teams and frontline caregivers who are committed to providing safe, high-quality care and the best possible experience for our patients,” said Jane Englebright, PhD, chief nurse executive at HCA Healthcare.

The rankings, previously called the Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospitals, have been conducted annually since 1993. This year’s top performing was selected by IBM Watson Health from more than 2,700 hospitals across the country and evaluated on clinical and operational benchmarks including, inpatient outcomes, healthcare-associated infections, readmission rates, length of stay, costs of care and patient satisfaction.
