HCA Healthcare has a diverse team of healthcare professionals – including physicians, nurses, data scientists and researchers – all working together to improve more lives in more ways. As one of the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services, our scale systemically supports learning and healthcare transformation across 184 hospitals and 2,000 sites of care.
We are pleased – but by no means surprised – that the work of our colleagues to provide healthier tomorrows for patients everywhere is being honored and recognized in national industry publications.
Recently, the depth and breadth of our team’s expertise and leadership was demonstrated when two of our own were singled out among Modern Healthcare’s “50 Most Influential Clinical Executives” in healthcare. Dr. Jonathan Perlin, president of clinical services and chief medical officer, remains on the list for the 10th consecutive time since 2010, while Dr. Jane Englebright, senior vice president and chief nurse executive, makes her first appearance and accounted for one of the top 21 female healthcare executives ranked.
Modern Healthcare’s list recognizes physician and nurse leaders working in the healthcare field who are deemed by their peers and industry experts to be the most influential in terms of leadership and impact.
“It’s an honor to be recognized among such an influential, smart and diverse group of leaders,” said Dr. Perlin. “Together with Jane Englebright, and all of HCA Healthcare’s passionate clinical leaders, we will continue to raise the bar for healthcare, everywhere.”
“I’m appreciative and humbled to join this exceptional list of healthcare professionals,” echoed Dr. Englebright. “This acknowledgment is a testament to the contributions of each and every nurse in our HCA Healthcare family, and all of our colleagues’ commitment to the care and improvement of human life.”
Under Dr. Perlin’s leadership, HCA Healthcare’s Clinical Services Group (CSG), comprised of approximately 300 healthcare professionals, provides evidence-based tools, measurement and data science to support safe, effective, efficient and compassionate care. Drs. Perlin and Englebright, as well as other individuals in CSG, are luminaries in their respective fields, having held more than 50 top-tier healthcare leadership roles across the nation.
As chief medical officer, Dr. Perlin plays an integral role in disseminating best practices across HCA Healthcare, the industry and the world. That includes a predictive algorithm our clinicians and data scientists created to detect sepsis quicker (SPOT), our organization’s research on elective- deliveries (39 Weeks) and efforts to reduce healthcare-associated infections (REDUCE MRSA and ABATE), both of which resulted in standardized, evidence-based protocols in medicine.
The efforts to unlock new possibilities in innovation, healthcare technology and care practice would be virtually impossible without HCA Healthcare’s 94,000-plus nurse workforce led by Dr. Englebright. Whether it’s implementing clinical trials in hospitals, surgery centers and other sites of care, or providing their insights and ideas to better our organization and patient outcomes, nurses are the differentiator at HCA Healthcare.
Named HCA Healthcare’s first chief nursing officer in 2007, Dr. Englebright has helped lead our efforts to deploy tools and technologies that enhance nursing practice and enable nurses to deliver consistently exceptional care; invest in clinical education and growth opportunities for nurses and nurse leaders; and establish programs to recognize nursing units that display exemplary performance.
We congratulate both Dr. Perlin and Dr. Englebright on this extraordinary recognition and thank them for all they do to transform healthcare for patients and the communities we are privileged to serve.
