Perlin named to Modern Healthcare list of influential physician executives

Dr. Jonathan Perlin, HCA Healthcare’s chief medical officer and president of the Clinical Services Group, has been named to Modern Healthcare’s 2017 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders list.
Dr. Perlin came in at No. 16 on the list, and was recognized by the magazine for his multiple roles within HCA Healthcare.
“[He] … provides leadership for clinical services and performance improvement. He brings strong research credentials to the chain, tackling issues ranging from MRSA prevention to reducing the number of early elective deliveries,” the magazine says.
The magazine also noted Dr. Perlin’s long history caring for former members of the U.S. military, adding that “Before joining HCA Healthcare in 2006, Perlin was undersecretary for health in the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department. As chief executive of the Veterans Health Administration, Perlin led the nation’s largest integrated health system. In 2014, Perlin took a sabbatical from his role on the senior leadership team at HCA Healthcare to serve as a special adviser to the VA at a time when the agency was facing allegations of mismanagement in its healthcare services.”
