HCA Healthcare welcomes the first babies of the new year

A set of twins were two of the first babies born in the new year in the HCA Healthcare system. The rainbow babies – children born following a miscarriage or infant loss – were delivered at HealthONE’s Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver and were the first twins to be born on New Year’s Day in Colorado.

Ryan, who tipped the scales at 5 pounds, 5 ounces, was born at 12:07 a.m. on January 1, while sister Myar weighed in at 4 pounds, 3 ounces and made her debut at 12:09 a.m. New Year’s Day.

The babies came as no surprise to Iraqi parents Fatimah (mother) and Sameer (father), who moved to the Denver-area in November 2016. Twins run on both sides of the family.

“The team at P/SL treated my husband and I like family,” Fatimah said. “That meant a lot to us since we don’t have family here in Denver.”

Baby Ju’wan Clifton Daigre was born at 3:56 a.m. on January 1, 2018 – his parents’ anniversary – at Women’s & Children’s Hospital, an HCA Healthcare affiliate in Lafayette, Louisiana. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 18.3 inches.

Ju’wan’s arrival was a bit of a surprise for his parents, John Daigre and Beverly Carino, who were not expecting him to arrive until his Jan. 17 due date.

Still, the birth was a “blessing,” said Carino, a first-time parent who discovered she was pregnant on Mother’s Day.

Hours after giving birth, Carino said she felt “blessed and excited. He’s here and he’s perfect.”

Regional Medical Center of San Jose, an HCA Healthcare affiliate in California, welcomed Aron Orozco at 9 a.m. on the first day of 2018.  He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Baby Aron was the third boy for parents Karina and Oscar, who delivered all of their children with the help of nurse Nicole Parker. And fun fact – New Year’s Day was Nicole’s birthday, too. Happy Birthday Aron and Nicole!
